Man in his 60s shot dead in his Deercreek home; sources say son killed his father

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was found shot to death in his home in the Deercreek area on Wednesday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Multiple sources told News4JAX this was a case of a son shooting and killing his father.

According to JSO, officers were called to a home on Fawn Lake Drive South after 8 a.m. in response to a person who had been shot.

When police arrived, they found a man in his 60s shot to death inside the home. JSO said the man had multiple gunshot wounds.

A man in his late 20s or early 30s was arrested and is being questioned by detectives, according to JSO.

News4JAX asked JSO Homicide Detective Ray Reeves if the man shot was related to the man being held. Reeves said, “They knew each other,” but could not comment on the exact relationship between them.

This case was classified as pending as detectives were awaiting the autopsy report from the medical examiner’s office.

Police say this is an isolated incident and there are no threats to the community.
