Klipsch has launched its R-60M standard mounts, rounding out the existing one Reference range of affordable speakers which was first launched in 2022. The new R-60M joins the more affordable R-40M (£239) and R-50M (£299) bookshelf units, with Klipsch aiming to offer an affordable bookshelf speaker suitable for placing directly in your cinema setup or hi-fi system and effectively integrating with the rest of the Reference line.

Now the largest standmount model in Klipsch’s Reference Series, the R-60M promises “big, full sound” from a pair of units with a relatively small footprint. Klipsch considers the mid-priced standmounts to be perfect for integrating into most homes and for handling both movies and music without taking up too much space.

The R-60M features a 25mm aluminum ‘Linear Travel Suspension’ tweeter that aims to minimize distortion for greater top-end detail, with aluminum chosen for its lightweight yet rigid properties. Each unit also houses a single 6-inch spun copper TCP woofer that, thanks to trickle-down technology from Klipsch’s Reference Premiere series, offers a steeper cone angle for “smoother response” and “better accuracy and transparency.”

The new speakers also use Klipsch’s Tractrix horn technology to deliver the “power, detail and emotion of a live music experience”, with a larger outer horn that aims for better high-frequency directivity and a more precise soundstage.

Klipsch has given these standmounts a sleek, modern look, so they fit seamlessly into your home theater system or hi-fi stereo setup. The scratch-resistant woodgrain speaker cabinets utilize reinforced 20mm MDF construction, enhanced by a new bracing design that helps reduce cabinet vibration for less distortion and improved sonic accuracy.

The Klipsch R-60M speakers are available in a textured black vinyl finish and cost £425 / €449 / $399 (approx).
