Rangers could land a £3million windfall following Philippe Clement’s exit update

Rangers could receive up to £3 million in compensation if Philippe Clement became the next Belgian manager.

That is the opinion of financial expert Stefan Borson, who said this exclusively Football insider it could be an ideal solution for the Scottish giants as the 50-year-old’s position at Ibrox is currently under threat.

Football insider unveiled on November 22 Clement has huge admirers within the Belgian Football Association after his former CEO and mentor Vincent Mannaert was appointed as the governing body’s sporting director..

The national team is believed to be considering a change of manager with Domenico Tedesco, who is on the verge of losing his job, potentially freeing up the role for Clement.

The Belgian has had a difficult start to the season, with Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Dundee United leaving his side 11 points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premier League.

Rangers could get a nice solution from Philippe Clement after links to Belgium

Borson revealed that Rangers could win £5million if Clement joins Belgium rather than being sacked at Ibrox.

He told it Football insider: “It just depends on whether they are going to fire him yet in terms of compensation.

“I suspect £2-3 million is probably the limit.

“I don’t think this will change the dial significantly, but it’s a pretty elegant way out of the situation for all parties involved if Rangers already have doubts about him.

“Maybe they encourage that situation.

“It’s a great solution and it allows them to actually get some money in instead of paying a fee.

“If you look at the total financial impact, to compare them, for example if they fire him they have to pay compensation on the way out, but if he goes to Belgium they get compensation on the way in and zero on the way out .

“The delta between the two could be £5 million, even if only £3 million comes in from Belgium.

“It makes sense in a way, but it is very difficult to manage these types of situations so neatly.”
