One person was killed and three were seriously injured in a crash in Marion County

OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) – Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said one person was killed and three others were seriously injured in a crash on County Road 314 Saturday evening.

Troopers said it happened near Northeast 170th Avenue around 7:30 p.m.

Authorities said they believe the two vehicles collided when the victim’s driver, a 50-year-old woman from Pottstown, Penn., attempted to pass another vehicle ahead by crossing the double yellow lines.

The second car was in the opposite lane and headed towards them when the cars collided.

The first car rolled over and both cars ended up on the grassy side of the road.

There were three other passengers involved who all reported serious injuries.

Corporal W. Swartz is the lead homicide investigator on the case.
