Police places GH¢20,000 bounty on persons in NDC attire, threatening election violence

The Ghana Police Service has paid a bounty of GH¢20,000 to a group of individuals National Democratic Congress colors threatening acts of violence ahead of the December 7 general elections.

The people in the video were identified as Fuseini Yahuza, Bernard Ahedor, Simon, Basit and Musa Yakubu.

Police, in a statementsaid the actions of the individuals belonging to the “NDC Youth of Obuasi” was contrary to Section 207 of the Criminal Offenses Act, 1960 (Act 29).

Police said they had been on the run since the video of them making the threats went viral.

The agency has launched an operation to arrest the suspects and bring them to justice.

An updated press statement from the police Public Affairs Unit on Sunday, November 24, urged “anyone with credible information to contact police on a dedicated telephone number, 0547927272.”

This premium comes afterwards police arrested Oheneba Nana Asiedu, a presenter and presenter of Wontumi FM, for offenses such as publishing false news.

Asiedu, a New Patriotic Party supporter, was invited by the Ashanti Regional Police Command on November 23 and taken into custody.

He is said to have encouraged voters to cast their votes for presidential candidates on separate days during the upcoming elections.

Asiedu falsely claimed that candidates occupying positions one through seven on the ballot would be elected on the first day, and that candidates occupying positions eight through thirteen would be held the following day.

His comments and arrest come after the NDC flag bearer, John Mahama accused the presidency of a disinformation campaign against him.

NDC condemns its communicator

YEN.com.gh reported that the NDC criticized one of the communicators for insulting former President John Kufuor.

The opposition party also apologized to the statesman in a recent statement issued by its communications directorate.

In the statement, the NDC also said the offending communicator had also personally apologized to the former president.
