Man arrested for Saturday’s fatal shooting in Manassas: police

A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday in the Bull Run neighborhood, according to Prince William County police.

Zahir Adbul-Rahman Mujahid, of no fixed address, was found and arrested by police on Sunday. Mujahid was charged with murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Just after 9 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to the 8000 block of Stream Walk Lane to investigate reports of a shooting.

A 45-year-old man was found by officers in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the encounter started as a physical fight, which escalated when Majahid pulled out a gun and shot the victim.

During the conversation, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim several times. Police searched the area for the suspect who left the scene and was initially not found. Detectives located the suspect early the next morning near Manassas, where he was detained without incident.
