HENRICO COUNTY, Va. – Authorities say a bicyclist was killed after being struck by a train in Henrico County on Sunday afternoon.

Henrico police were dispatched to the railroad crossing on Hungary Road near Oakview Avenue at 3:30 p.m.

“Upon arrival, the adult male cyclist was deceased,” officials said. “The Henrico Police Department is working with the CSX Police Department to investigate the cause of the crash.”

As a result, Hungarian Road was closed between Old Springfield and Purcell, according to officials.

Drivers were asked to use alternate routes such as Mountain Road to avoid the area.
