Two people have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder after a man was seriously injured.

Essex Police said the incident took place in Howard Close, Waltham Abbey, at around 3.30pm GMT on Sunday.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. He stayed there on Tuesday.

A 54-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman have been released on bail after questioning until February 18, police said.

Det Insp Chris Rose said officers were working “around the clock” to establish how the man was injured.

“If you know anything about this incident and have not yet spoken to us, I encourage you to come forward and help,” he added.
