Rayne man arrested, accused of child rape

RAYNE, La. (KLFY) – A 41-year-old Rayne man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the sexual abuse of a child that occurred over two years, according to Louisiana State Police.

Julian “Trey” Aucoin III faces three counts of first-degree rape and one count of sexual abuse and indecent conduct with juveniles. He was booked into the Acadia Parish Corrections Facility.

Aucoin was previously sued first-degree rape and other charges in December 2023, indecent behavior of a juvenile and computer-assisted incitement of a minor in April 2021and sexual battery of a juvenile under the age of 13 in June 2021.

According to a news release, his latest charges stem from an investigation that began Nov. 4 after LSP’s Special Victims Unit received a complaint of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 13. Aucoin was accused of child abuse.

“During the investigation, detectives discovered that Aucoin participated in numerous acts of forcible sexual contact with the minor over a two-year period. Based on their investigation, an arrest warrant for Aucoin was obtained,” state police said in the news release.

The case is still under investigation.

LSP’s Special Victims Unit works to rescue and seek justice for victims of crimes involving child exploitation and human trafficking for sex or labor. State police said the public plays an important role in identifying suspects accused of these crimes.

The public is urged to report criminal or suspicious activity.
