The directive comes after a senior counsel Kalonzo MusyokaThey, along with Eugene Wamalwa, Kibe Mungai and other lawyers representing the petitioners, demanded clarity on the matter during a hearing before Judge Bahati Mwamuye on Thursday, November 28.

The petitioners argued that there had been significant developments since President William Ruto’s State of the Nation Address on Thursday, November 21, where he terminated two major deals involving Indian billionaire Gautam Adani.

These include the JKIA-Adani agreement, which was still in the tender stage, and the Adani-KETRACO agreement, which had already been signed.

“There must be a reckoning for whoever brought Adani into the country. We are talking about a high level of corruption, which the US has taken seriously. We need to know what exactly has been cancelled,” the Wiper Party leader told the court.

Kalonzo highlighted that president Ruto cited “new information provided by research agencies and partner countries” as the basis for the cancellations.

However, despite these statements, Attorney General Dorcas Oduor has yet to present any evidence in court to substantiate the claims.

Judge Mwamuye noted that the matter had initially been mooted, but noted that recent developments required the state to provide detailed documentation.

The Adani deals have come under heavy scrutiny, especially after the billionaire’s fraud indictment by US prosecutors.
