A single-vehicle crash in Delaware County has left one person dead and another injured

One person has died after a crash near Leach in Delaware County.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) said a 2002 Chevy Tahoe driven by 20-year-old Thomas Charles Potts was traveling early Friday around 2:16 a.m. on Scenic Highway 412, just south of E 550 Road.

OHP said the vehicle drifted to the right of the roadway, overcorrected to the left, crossed the center line and then continued left, left the roadway and struck a ditch.

The vehicle overturned and came to rest on the driver’s side.

Potts was thrown from the car and a passenger, 19-year-old Jacob Aaron Cole, was partially ejected.

Both were taken to hospital where Potts was pronounced dead.

Cole is stable with internal injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

OHP noted that neither was wearing seat belts.
