Toledo man accused of holding pregnant woman against her will

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A Toledo man is facing criminal charges after police say he held a pregnant woman in a room against her will.

Luis Bahena, 29, of Toledo, was booked into the Lucas County Jail Wednesday on charges of kidnapping, restraint and domestic violence.

Toledo police records show officers were called to Bahena’s Idaho home on Nov. 27 after a victim texted a family member that she was being held against her will. Numerous TPD units attempted to make contact with people in the home and eventually forced their way inside.

The charging documents allege that Bahena knowingly struck a pregnant victim in the back of the legs multiple times with a belt, causing visible injuries. Another police statement said the victim told authorities that Bahena has a camera in the bedroom of the house that he uses to make sure the victim doesn’t leave when he’s not there.

TPD reports went on to say that several children live there, despite calling the home “uninhabitable” and without running water.

Bahena is expected to appear in court in the coming days.
