Ludhiana: 14-year-old alleges rape, neighbor held

Division 7 police have arrested a 35-year-old factory worker for allegedly raping a 14-year-old neighbor in Adarsh Nagar. The suspect has been identified as Suresh. The FIR has been registered on the complaint of the victim’s mother.

The complainant stated that she and the suspect’s wife work in the same factory. The suspect took the day off on Thursday and preferred to stay at home. The complainant stated that when she returned home in the evening, she found her distressed daughter crying. When asked, the girl said that the suspect had barged into the house after finding her alone and raped her. The suspect also threatened to keep her mum before she fled.

Sub-Inspector Harinderpal Singh, who is investigating the case, said the accused was arrested and Section 64 (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act were struck down.
