Dalgliesh will return to our TV screens on December 5, when Channel 5 launches its third season following a double renewal in 2022. The new six-episode series is split into three adaptations of PD James’ novels.

Bertie Carvel reprises the role of the titular character Adam Dalgliesh, alongside Carlyss Peer who returns as DS Kate Miskin, and Alistair Brammer as Dalgliesh’s sidekick DS Daniel Tarrant. Filming took place in Northern Ireland, with the new series featuring a range of high-profile guest stars.

Carlyss, 29, has appeared in all three series of Dalgliesh. Her acting portfolio also includes appearances in several other TV shows such as Beyond Paradise, The Crown, Viewpoint, The Feed, Silent Witness, The Tempest, Midsomer Murders and Holby City.

In addition to her television work, Carlyss has appeared in films such as The Great Escaper, County Lines and Peter and Wendy. She has an impressive list of theater credits and has been cast in productions such as Watch on the Rhine, Ocean at the End of the Lane, Rules for Living, Groundhog Day, Jefferson’s Garden and Hamlet.

Carlyss honed her craft at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, known as RADA, graduating with a BA Hons in Acting. In addition to her acting career, Carlyss also lends her voice to advertisements and radio shows as a voice-over artist.

When she’s not on the big screen, the 29-year-old dedicates her time to teaching and acting coaching, a calling she has followed for more than 17 years. She is actively involved in directing productions of community groups and youth theaters, and also runs a theater school for young talents.

As part of the Performers College Team, she helps students hone their performing arts skills.

The upcoming series Dalgliesh begins with ‘Death in Holy Orders’, in which the main character goes to an isolated seminary that becomes the scene of a gruesome murder. The plot thickens as: “After a heated argument in church the next morning, Crampton is found dead at the altar, leading to Commander Dalgliesh and DS Tarrant being called in to investigate.”

In the second story, ‘Cover Her Face’, the detective delves into a murder case in the opulent home of an Essex family with ties to the British government. In the concluding chapter, ‘Devices and Desires’, Dalgliesh embarks on a critical quest to thwart a terrorist threat aimed at a nuclear power station in Kent.
