Pembroke woman, 76, struck and killed by vehicle in Hanson

A 76-year-old Pembroke woman died Tuesday after she was struck by an SUV while crossing the street in Hanson, officials said.

Hanson Police received a 911 call Tuesday around 6:08 p.m. reporting a pedestrian accident near 22 Main St. involving a white Honda CR-V. The woman, identified as Donna Mark, “was lying in the roadway with apparent trauma to her lower extremities,” police said in a statement. statement shared on his X page.

Hanson EMS prepared to take Mark to a landing zone to meet a Medflight helicopter, but when her condition changed, she was taken to South Shore Hospital in an ambulance instead. She was pronounced dead there.

Based on the preliminary stages of the investigation, it appears Mark was walking north on Main Street when she was struck. An eastbound motorist had stopped to let her pass, but as she crossed the street she was struck by a second eastbound car.

The Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit is conducting the investigation, which is ongoing. Officials have not indicated whether the driver, a woman who stopped at the scene, will be charged.
