A New Hampshire man who previously lived in Haverhill has been convicted in Superior Court in Salem of raping a child in 2007, Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker’s office announced Thursday.

Gjon Gjegji, 56, of Pelham, New Hampshire, was sentenced Wednesday to 13 to 14 years in prison, Tucker’s office said in a statement. Gjegji was found guilty on September 27 of three counts of rape of a child (aggravated by age difference) and three counts of rape of a child by force.

He was charged in March 2022, while the crimes occurred in 2007, the statement said.
