AUS vs IND 2nd Test: Virat Kohli suffers double failures in Adelaide, ends love affair with venue

Star India batsman Virat Kohli failed to continue his form in the second Test of the ongoing series against Australia as he was dismissed for 11 on Day 2 at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide. Kohli ran into the bat in challenging conditions as the pink ball moved around. The batsman looked a bit disciplined as he left a few balls outside the stump.

He even pushed one ball through the slip cordon that went for a boundary. However, his stay came to an end on 11 (21) when Scott Boland found his outside edge which was safely taken by Josh Inglis behind the stumps. As a result, he failed to continue his love affair with his favorite venue as he was dismissed for 7 (8) by Mitchell Starc earlier in the first innings.

Earlier, India lost KL Rahul (7) early in the innings as he was surprised by a bouncer. His opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal played a few shots to score 24 before Scott Boland got him out on the very first ball of his spell.

Travis Head scores his eighth Test hundred

Earlier in the day he started the day by dismissing Nathan McSweeney who was caught behind for 39. The pace spearhead took Steve Smith further down the leg side for 2 and took all the first three wickets that fell in the Australian innings. After the early burst, Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head added crucial 65 runs for the fourth wicket.

While Labuschagne was dismissed for 64 by Nitish Kumar Reddy, Head continued to attack the Indian bowlers and kept the scoreboard moving. The left-hander registered his eighth Test century and played a breathtaking knock of 140 (141) with the help of 17 fours and four sixes. His innings finally came to an end when Siraj hit his stumps and even gave him an aggressive send-off.

Thanks to his innings, Australia recorded a huge score of 337 and took a 157-run lead in the first innings. Jasprit Bumrah (4/61) and Mohammed Siraj (4/98) took four wickets each for India.
