Thiruvananthapuram: According to the inquest into the death of Induja (25), just four months after her marriage, the Nedumangad District Hospital confirmed the presence of abuse marks on her body. The victim’s family and tribal organizations allege foul play in the circumstances surrounding her death.

The family noticed abuse on her face when she visited her home two weeks ago. A neighbor told Manorama News that she also saw the injury on her face, especially near her eyes and on her cheeks. Abhijith’s mother claimed that these marks were formed when Induja’s face hit a bus rail recently.

The deceased Induja is the daughter of Sasidharan Kani of Konnamoodu tribal colony in Idinjar, Peringammala. Her father had complained to her husband, Abhijith, claiming that the family was not allowed to meet her after the wedding. Abhijith is currently in police custody. The complaint also states that the family was briefly allowed to take Induja home for a day after they filed a complaint with the Palode police. Induja reportedly revealed during this meeting that she was being abused. The circumstances of her death remain suspicious.

Her husband found her hanging from the window grille in their bedroom when he came home for lunch. According to Manorama News, only Abhijith’s grandmother was present in the house at the time of the suspected suicide. Induja’s body is in the mortuary of the district hospital and an autopsy will be conducted today in the presence of the RDO.

Induja worked as a nurse in a private hospital. After dating for two years, the couple got married four months ago at a nearby temple. However, the marriage was reportedly not registered.
