Iranian embassy stormed in Damascus

The Iranian embassy in the Syrian capital was stormed by unknown gunmen on Sunday following the capture of Damascus by Syrian rebels and the fall of Iran-allied Bashar al-Assad, Iranian state television reported.

“It is said that the Iranian embassy next to nearby shops was stormed by an armed group different from the group that now controls (most of) Syria,” Iranian state television said, citing Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), who was in charge of the rebel advance. throughout western Syria.

Arab and Iranian media shared images from inside the embassy building, where attackers ransacked furniture and documents in the building and damaged some windows.
