NPTF to upgrade Ilorin Police Training School – News – The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

The Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) has announced plans to upgrade the Nigeria Police Training School, Ilorin, to a world-class standard.

The Executive Secretary of the fund, Mohammed Sheidu, disclosed this in Ilorin at the weekend as part of intervention efforts to address the poor state of the school.

Speaking to journalists after inspecting the facility, Sheidu said: “Although the school is for the training of recruits, the fund will intervene in the rehabilitation and upgrading of the facilities to world-class standards. It needs to be upgraded to the world standard.”

The NPTF officials were in Ilorin for a two-day management retreat for stakeholders.

As part of the visit, the NPTF delegation also toured the Kwara State Garment Factory where discussions were initiated with its officials on the possible production of uniforms for officers and personnel of the Nigerian Police Force.

The team expressed satisfaction over the facilities at the factory and encouraged other states to replicate such initiatives to promote local production and reduce import of textile materials.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, urged the visiting team to make the impact of the fund felt in the state by patronizing the garment factory for the production of police uniforms.

The governor also requested the intervention of the fund for the Ilorin Police Training School.

Responding to the governor’s request, the Executive Secretary of the NPTF expressed enthusiasm over the facilities of the factory, noting that “discussion is open” with the Kwara State Government on how the fund can interact with the factory to collaborate.
