Woman, 55, beaten to death by husband, son over property in Agra

AGRA: A 55-year-old woman was mercilessly beaten with sticks by her husband and son over a property in her name which she refused to hand over to the suspect, police in Agra said on Monday, adding that she was declared ‘brought dead'” by the hospital authorities.
CCTV footage of the incident, which was widely shared, showed that while trying to escape their grasp, she slipped and fell into a drain. But the suspect continued the attack.
Rama Devi had refused to sell her 2,500 sq ft house, located in Shyam Vihar Colony under Trans Yamuna borders, against the wishes of her husband, Dadhich Goswami, a farmer in Mathura. She had two sons, Kaushal and Manoj, and three daughters, and all are married.
Her son-in-law Rajendra (first name available) said, “To avoid her husband, she had been living in Sikandra on rent for the past four months. Around 10am on Sunday, she arrived at Shyam Vihar to collect her belongings, and there was an argument with her husband and son Manoj. She tried to go into the street, but both followed her and continued to attack her. Her eldest son Kaushal rushed in and took her to SN Medical Hospital.”
SHO Bhanu Pratap said, “Based on the complaint received, an FIR has been registered against the father and son.”
