Driver seriously injured in semi crash in Gibson County

GIBSON CO., Ind. (WFIE) – One person was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon after crashing into a semi-truck in Gibson County.

That’s according to the sheriff’s office, which says it happened at 12:21 a.m. in the 9900 block of W. SR-165 in Johnson.

County units, the Owensville Fire Territory and Gibson County Ambulance Service responded to the scene after learning the driver of the sedan was trapped in the vehicle.

Officers say the driver was freed and taken to an Evansville hospital with serious injuries.

After speaking with witnesses and reviewing dashcam footage, investigators determined the Toyota sedan crossed over the center of the road and struck the semi.

The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office says this is an active and open investigation.
