Protest rally held in Samba, other places, against attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh

SAMBA, Dec 9: Protests against attacks on minorities continue in various parts of J&K. Today, people of different faiths held a rally in Samba district to protest against attacks on Hindus and their temples in Bangladesh and called on the Center to intervene.
Carrying the tricolour, religious flags and banners, members of Hindu, Sikh and Jain communities and MLA Surjeet Singh Slathia participated in the meeting.
They urged the Prime Minister, the Narendra Modi-led government, to ensure the safety of Hindus, a minority in Bangladesh.
“Civil society organized a protest rally against violent attacks on Hindus and their temples. People from different communities, including Hindu, Sikh and Jain, joined the protest against Bangladesh because of what is happening there,” said a protester Suraj Singh.
He said attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh are increasing day by day while the world remains a silent spectator.
“We cannot tolerate such chaos against the community there. The Prime Minister and Government of India must take further action and ensure it comes to an end,” he added.
Another protester, Bansi Lal, said the world must take note of the serious human rights violations taking place in Bangladesh.
“The world must intervene. Human rights organizations must come forward to end violence against Hindus,” he said.
There has been a wave of incidents of violence against Hindus and other minorities in recent weeks, as well as attacks on temples in Bangladesh, raising major concerns in New Delhi.
The protests were also held in Kathua and Ramban districts by the activists of various Hindu, Sikh and Jain organizations, with Sadhus also joining them. They demanded an immediate end to attacks on Bangladeshi minorities and their religious places. They felt that the government of Bangladesh should take strong action and called on the courtesy of the nations to act in case the government of Bangladesh failed to stop such attacks and provide security to Hindu minorities.
Meanwhile, Hindu minorities in Kashmir also protested against attacks on minorities in Bangladesh. The Luce minority demonstrators from Valley, including Hindus, Sikhs and Christians, among others, staged a protest in Srinagar calling for an end to violence against minorities in Bangladesh.
The protesters gathered outside Raj Bhawan and raised slogans and held banners reading “Save the minorities in Bangladesh and stop the heinous killings, save the Hindus in Bangladesh, we strongly condemn the killing of minorities in Bangladesh etc.”
