State departments are investigating Nashville’s illegal daycare operator accused of raping children

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Tennessee Department of Human Services confirmed to WSMV4 that it is working with the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) and the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services (DCS) to investigate an illegal childcare operation run by Molly Sinclair .

Sinclair is the wife of Imran “Ron” Malik, who is accused of raping children at an unlicensed daycare center in Antioch.

Now families are warning other parents in Middle Tennessee because they believe more children may have been abused.

State departments say they are working with Metro Nashville police to investigate an illegal child care operation.

MNPD reports that Malik raped two girls over four years while he was in daycare. An arrest report details the abuse that occurred multiple times between March 2015 and June 2020. Police said the victims came forward about their abuse earlier in 2024.

A mother told WSMV4 that her child’s life has been forever changed by this abuse. ‘He was a monster. He was a monster. Ron had abused her. Most of her life. She began to tremble and shake and turn pale. She told me that if she told me what was happening, I would die, and that the reason she didn’t want to continue living was because this man had abused her for most of her life.”

Documents from the Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) shows that Sinclair was told ten times since 2015 that she was not allowed to run illegal childcare. She reached a settlement in the DHS case in November.

Parents told WSMV4 they believe she should be charged for whatever role she played in the alleged abuse.

“We are currently working with law enforcement and the Tennessee Department of Children Services (DCS) to investigate Molly Sinclair’s illegal childcare activities. Attached you will find accompanying legal documentation that provides a summary of our recent and past litigation involving Ms. Sinclair. We take the safety and well-being of children very seriously and we are committed to assisting law enforcement and other authorities as necessary in their investigations of the situation. All child abuse investigations are typically conducted by the Tennessee Department of Children Services (DCS), and they may be able to provide more information.

In addition, we want to make people aware that there are several resources available to help families find licensed child care facilities through our online navigation tool at Find Child Care (tn.gov). We also encourage anyone interested in operating a child care agency to complete our licensing program as we continue to work to support safe, healthy, and developmentally rich opportunities for our children to grow and learn.
