Gangster Rashid Cablewala: high on wanted list after multiple murders | Delhi News

NEW DELHI: His name first surfaced in the murder of businessman Nadir Shah in Greater Kailash-I in September. He was then accused of a sensational double murder in East Delhi on the night of Diwali in October.
As his name surfaces in the sensational murder of East Delhi businessman Sunil Jain in Krishna Nagar, a Dubai gangster Rashid Kabelwala has become one of the most sought after fugitives Delhi Police.

The manhunt is underway

An associate of infamous gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Hashim BabaCablewala fled India in 2022, a year after his arrest by Delhi police. Speaking to TOI on Monday from an undisclosed location, Cablewala claimed that Jain’s murder was “retaliation” for the twin murders in October, but denied his involvement.
The fugitive claimed that Jain was not the intended target, a theory that investigators said was also correct as Jain had no connection to these gangs or their agents.
Confirming Sunday’s TOI report, Cablewala said Sachin alias Golu was among the attackers who had accepted a two-party payment to eliminate another individual.
“Jain was not the target. The target was this man named Virat and he will definitely be eliminated…,” he told TOI. Delhi Police confirmed that it has launched a search operation for Sachin.
However, Cablewala, who is reportedly traveling between Thailand, Bali and Dubai, acknowledged his association with Hashim Baba, who is incarcerated in Tihar Jail. “Baba bhai and I are one… That’s right there,” he said.
When asked about his whereabouts, Cablewala said, “Mai abhi bahar hun (I am abroad).” Cablewala also claimed that his name was wrongly implicated in these murders. “I had no enmity with Nadir Shah or Aakash, who were killed in East Delhi,” he claimed.
Hashim Baba’s gang has orchestrated numerous infamous incidents in the city this year. While he was being arrested from jail for the murder of Nadir Shah, his gunmen infiltrated a city hospital and fatally shot a man in a case of mistaken identity. “Jain’s murder is said to be a second murder due to mistaken identity by Hashim Baba’s gang,” a senior officer said.
Hashim Baba and Cablewala share an extensive history, authorities say. They initially rose to prominence when, along with their former collaborator Nasir, they eliminated Akil Mama at a funeral in 2013.
After Nasir’s capture, Hashim Baba and Cablewala took control of the gang. They eventually split up and set up their individual activities.
Cablewala, a history-maker with multiple murder cases, was given a reward of Rs 1 lakh before his arrest in 2018. At the time, he was apprehended while trying to escape to Saudi Arabia. He had founded a clothing company in Riyadh and expanded to Thailand. According to the researchers, this was intended to launder illegal proceeds.
In 2019, he was charged under MCOCA by the crime branch. In 2020 he was arrested again by the special cell. He disappeared in early 2022 with a fraudulent passport. Shortly after his name emerged in the Nadir Shah case, Cablewala was again charged under MCOCA.
Jain’s alleged shooter, Sachin, was also involved in the same case. When asked if he would like to participate in the investigation, Cablewala replied in the affirmative. “I have nothing to hide. The police can communicate with me whenever they want,” he added.
Jain’s murder has become an Achilles heel for the police. They raid several places to nab the alleged shooters: Sachin and Zaheer. Late Monday, police said they expected a breakthrough soon.
