A Plattsmouth man has reached a plea deal after being accused of sexually abusing a teenager

PLATTSMOUTH, Neb. (KOLN) – A Plattsmouth man charged with sexual abuse of a girl For years, since she was 15, she took plea deals on Mondays.

Mathew Kocken, 41, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted sexual assault of a child and intentional child abuse without injury.

In return, the charges of pandering, four counts of distribution of an image without consent and two counts of intent to distribute and image without consent were dropped.

The ruling is scheduled for March 24, 2025.

Officers were called to a home in Plattsmouth on May 28 to investigate reports of abuse. Kochen was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant, and a then 18-year-old girl living in the home spoke with officers.

She described a pattern of sexual abuse that Kochen subjected her to starting in 2020, when she was 15 years old, according to the arrest affidavit. This prompted a broader investigation into Kochen.

Search warrants filed with Google and Facebook revealed multiple images showing Kochen sexually assaulting the girl, which police say were shared with two people via Facebook in May.

Kocken allegedly sent the photos to a man and told him he could have sex with the girl for $300. The girl was shown these messages on August 1, confirming that the photos were taken and shared without her consent.

She also told officers that Kochen had pressured her to have sex with another man, but it is unclear whether Kochen received any payment, officers wrote.

About two weeks later, the girl provided further details about the abuse, which police say began shortly after Kochen began grooming her at age 15. The alleged abuse lasted four years.
