Bader murdered in Sesame Street home | News Extra

A man was shot while taking a bath at his home in Sesame Street, Arima on Sunday evening.

Police said that around 8:15 p.m., 40-year-old Jawanza Richards, who lived with his wife on Sesame Street off Pinto Road, Arima, was showering in his home when he was ambushed and shot multiple times by a gunman. Police said his wife heard the gunshots and when she investigated, she found him on the bathroom floor.

He died on the spot. Officers from Pinto Road Police Station, Arima Police Station and Region Two Homicide Bureau attended the scene, after which the body was taken to a funeral home in Arima. Police said they found 34 spent rounds, consisting of a mix of 9mm and 5.56 assault rifle rounds.

A post-mortem on the body is expected to be carried out today at the Forensic Science Centre, Federation Park.

The murder toll stood at 574 as of last night, while the death toll on this date last year was 540.
