The Professional Game Match Officials board has confirmed that Premier League referee David Coote has been sacked following incidents that were caught on video and circulated on the internet.

The match official has been suspended since November 11 while a video of him allegedly making derogatory comments about Liverpool and the club’s former manager Jurgen Klopp was investigated.

Shortly afterwards, another video surfaced showing alleged drug use by the referee.

The 42-year-old has overseen Premier League matches since 2018.
