See how much Michigan Wolverines coaches made in base salary in 2024

Even with two new faces at the helm, Michigan’s head football and men’s basketball coaches remained the highest-paid coaches in the university’s athletic department in 2024.

However, the structure of their contracts is vastly different. Men’s basketball coach Dusty May signed a five-year contract in March and will do so receives most of his income through basic salary. His annual salary of $3,625,000 in 2024 is the highest at the university, according to the salary report released on Monday, December 9.

However, head football coach Sherrone Moore’s total annual compensation exceeds that of May. The 38-year-old signed a five-year contract in January worth at least $5.5 million per year, but he only made $500,000 in base salary in 2024. The rest of his annual income comes from other forms of compensation, which are not included in the university’s salary report.
