Omotoso denies grooming girls for sexual purposes – SABC News

Rape-accused pastor Timothy Omotoso has wrapped his testimony after cross-examination by the state at the High Court of Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.

Omotoso was the first witness called by the defense.

He and his co-accused Zukiswa Sitho and Lusanda Solani are being confronted a series of charges, including extortion, human trafficking for sexual purposes, rape and sexual assault.

During cross-examination, he denied grooming girls at his mission home for sexual purposes.

Omotoso was cross-examined by Senior State Counsel Mduduzi Msila, who focused on the testimonies of four complainants who alleged that Omotoso sexually assaulted them; and others on numerous occasions.

Omotoso denied ever sexually abusing the girls and stated that the mission house was intended to groom young girls, who aspired to grow vocally and also sing in the church choir.

On the other hand, Omotoso admitted that girls sometimes came into his room in a group or individually for guidance, but none of them were ever sexually abused.

He also admitted that he sometimes asked the girls for massages for his feet, but this never escalated to sexual favors.

Wednesday is all about cross-examination. The defense is expected to call his co-accused Lusanda Solani.
