Woman killed in accident where officer responded to bomb threat at MTG’s home

Rep. Marjorie Taylor GreeneR-Ga., said she was “heartbroken” after learning that police response to a bomb threat at her home resulted in a fatal traffic accident Monday.

“I’m sick, but I’m also angry. This should never have happened and I pray it never happens again,” she wrote on X.

Rome Police spokesperson Kelly Madden told USA TODAY that a provincial bomb squad was deployed to respond to the threat at Greene’s home. An officer called to join the emergency service was in a car accident on the way to the station. Although the officer was not seriously injured, the other driver involved died, Madden said.

Tammie Pickelsimer, 66, drove from a parking lot onto the road where the officer was driving his personal car, according to the Georgia State Patrol’s preliminary findings. The officer braked and crashed her car into the driver’s side door. Pickelsimer was transported to the hospital, where she died from her injuries, the GSP said. The crash is still under investigation.

Agents ruled out danger at the MTG house, the threat was traced to Russian IP

The bomb squad ruled out all possible hazards in Greene’s home and turned the investigation into the bomb threat over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Madden said. The FBI’s Atlanta office said it is investigating and did not provide any further information.

The email threat was traced to a Russian IP address, Rome police said.

“These violent political threats have fatal consequences. It is an unnecessary burden on our law enforcement officers, who should treat them seriously. The officer responded to protect my life,” Greene said on X. “And now a woman has lost her life because of this despicable act.”

Greene is one of several political figures who have received bomb threats and swatting calls in recent weeks. Several Democratic lawmakers and nominees for the president-elect Donald Trump‘S The cabinet received violent threats during Thanksgiving week.
