Hyderabad: A woman in her mid-20s allegedly died by suicide after being continuously harassed by her husband for dowry, Miyapur police said on Monday. The victim’s brother Vijay Kumar filed a police complaint about his sister Kaveri’s death by suicide due to domestic violence.

According to police, the deceased’s husband Jagannath is an autorickshaw driver and wanted to buy a new vehicle for which he needed Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3 lakh. He asked his wife to bring money from her parents, but she refused. Jagannath allegedly beat her up.

According to the complaint, the victim complained to her parents and showed her injuries, but they asked her to compromise. On December 7, around 8 p.m., she reportedly died by suicide at her residence. Police have registered a case and arrested Jagannath.
