NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A California teenager has been extradited to Tennessee to face child abuse charges following an investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

The TBI reports that a joint investigation with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department resulted in the arrest of 18-year-old Nathan Corona.

In June, officers learned that a person had contacted a 7-year-old DeKalb County girl through an encrypted messaging app called “Zangi” and through cell phone messages. The TBI reports that the user, Corona, had the victim send him nude photos of herself and he in turn sent photos of his exposed genitals to her.

During the investigation, agents identified the account as belonging to an individual in Moreno Valley, California. Corona was identified as the suspect with the assistance of the Riverside County (CA) Child Exploitation Team.

On November 19, the DeKalb County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging the 18-year-old with one count of exploitation of a minor under the age of 13 and one count of solicitation of sexual exploitation of a minor.

He was extradited to DeKalb County and was booked into jail on December 9 on a $200,000 bond.
