Chandigarh: The UT court on Tuesday acquitted five persons, including gangster Ravinder alias Kali Shooter, who were arrested for allegedly kidnapping a hotel owner in Burail and demanding ransom seven years ago. The other acquitted persons are Amandeep, Islam, Kulwinder Singh alias Lovely, and Manmohan alias Moni.
The complainant Mohammad Kalam, who runs a Sun City Palace hotel in Burail, Sector 45, reported that he received a threatening phone call on December 8, 2017. The unknown caller, who claimed to be associated with Punjab gangster Kali Bhai, demanded a meeting at Sector 42 lake while taking a call. death threats.
Kalam borrowed a Punjab-registered SUV and arrived at the specified location. According to him, four persons forcibly entered his vehicle, held him at gunpoint and ordered him to drive. They continued towards Maloya and called about Kali Bhai’s impending arrival. After a long wait, they took him to the Sector 42 stadium, where they shifted him to the middle seat and drove towards the forests of Mohali.
The suspects, who addressed each other by name, allegedly physically assaulted him before abandoning him around 8 pm, demanding Rs 2 lakh for the return of the car.
