When the victim’s mother appeared at the suspect’s home while she was looking for her, the suspect managed to escape by pushing her aside.

The Meharban police have registered a FIR against the suspect, identified as Ankit Kumar, 19, based on the statement of the victim’s mother.

The complainant said her mother brought the girl to a family member nearby. Her daughter, who led the way, was suddenly missing.

The complainant added that she started looking for her when she heard her shouting from the suspect’s house.

She went in and found the suspect who had committed the crime. When she raised the alarm, the suspect managed to escape. She immediately warned the police and filed a complaint.

Assistant-under inspector (ASI) Radhey Sham, an investigating officer of the Meharban police station, said that the girl, together with her mother’s side grandmother, ran through a street that had become narrower because of the accumulation of water.

The toddler crossed the narrow piece and stopped waiting for her mother’s side grandmother. The suspect found the girl alone and dragged her in his house, where he raped her, the police added.

The ASI added that a FIR on the basis of section 65 (2) (the raping of a woman under the age of twelve) of the Bharatiya Nyaha Sanhita (BNS) and section 6 of the Protection of Children against Sexual Crimes Act (POCSO) is registered against the accused. The arrest of the suspect is being sought.

The suspect took the girl to his rental home and raped her when she was alone in her house.
