One of the most respected sources when it comes to Grand Theft Auto 6 rumors have cast some doubt on the game’s 2025 release date. GTA6 is one of the most anticipated video games of all time, and for good reason. The latest installment in the series has sold over 205 million copies and remains one of the most played video games in existence. It’s a resounding success, and Rockstar Games has managed to create something arguably better with it Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018. There’s a lot riding on this game and the fans have built up a ton of hype, almost to the point where they can’t wait any longer. Fans got a taste of the first one last year GTA6 trailer, but a full year later and there’s no news other than that GTA6 is aiming for a release in the fall of 2025. While that’s extremely exciting, the lack of other news has some fearing that the game isn’t as ready as previously thought and could suffer a setback heading into 2026. Earlier this week, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier wrote a story that largely summarized previously reported information . GTA6 such as the fact that the game will not focus on minorities and transgender people with cruel jokes. The game is expected to have an extensive online mode in addition to the Bonnie and Clyde-esque story mode, but little else is known.

Schreier also noted in his report that publishers are holding off on putting dates on their own releases for fall 2025, opting to give Rockstar Games the chance to go first so they can go. It was widely believed GTA6 would launch in spring 2025 due to fiscal projections from Take-Two, owner of Rockstar Games. However, that changed when the game was confirmed for the fall. It’s possible GTA6 had already been postponed internally, and Rockstar is doing its best to publicly stick to one release window and limit it to a specific year, then a specific season, then a specific month and date.
