Ludhiana: 4-year-old ‘raped’ in Ekta Colony, youth on the run | Latest news India

A four-year-old girl was “raped” by a 19-year-old man in Ekta Colony on Monday, police said. The girl was visiting a relative with her maternal grandmother at the time of the incident.

Section 65 (2) (raping a woman under the age of twelve years) of the Bharatiya Nyaha Sanhita and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act have been registered.

When the victim’s mother showed up at the suspect’s home while looking for her, the suspect managed to escape by pushing her aside.

Meharban police have registered an FIR against the suspect, identified as Ankit Kumar, 19, based on the statement of the victim’s mother.

The complainant said her mother took the girl to a relative nearby. Her daughter, who was leading the way, suddenly went missing.

The complainant added that they started searching for her when they heard her screams from the suspect’s house.

She went inside and found the suspect who had committed the crime. When she raised the alarm, the suspect managed to escape. She immediately alerted the police and filed a complaint.

Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Radhey Sham, an investigating officer of Meharban police station, said the girl, along with her maternal grandmother, was walking through a street that had become narrower due to the accumulation of water.

The toddler crossed the narrow stretch and stopped to wait for her maternal grandmother. The suspect found the girl alone and dragged her into his house, where he raped her, police added.

The ASI added that an FIR under Section 65 (2) (raping a woman under the age of twelve years) of the Bharatiya Nyaha Sanhita (BNS) and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act has been registered against the accused. Efforts are on to arrest the suspect.

The district saw a similar incident on December 7 when Dehlon police booked a laborer for ‘raping’ a five-year-old daughter of his neighbor in Bhagwanpura village.

The suspect took the girl to his rental home and raped her when she was alone in her house.

In another case, Tibba police had arrested a minor for raping a 12-year-old girl in Chandarlok Colony.
