Taylor Swift’s longtime bassist says he’s ‘changed’ from the Eras Tour

Taylor Swift‘s longtime bassist reflects on “the ride of his life,” as he says farewell to the Eras Tour.

Amos Heller, who has played with Swift for more than 15 years, shared this Instagram a long ode to him time on the road with the pop superstar, which ended on Sunday, December 8 in Vancouver after five continents, dozens of cities and 152 shows.

Heller, 47, gave a rare insight into what life was like behind the scenes of the highest-grossing concert tour of all time in his message. He also shared a number of photos of himself performing on stage, including one of Swift, 34, leaning back on his shoulder during the show. Fearless part of the show.

‘It’s done. No more early lobbying conversations. No more airports. You no longer have to lug a suitcase and Mono bag up the escalator, through a line, and out of the baggage carousel. No more warming, no more cooling,” he wrote. “I no longer have to look at my watch twenty times to make sure I don’t miss a call. No more saying goodbye to my family, no more ‘How many sleeps now?’ No more jet lag. It’s done.”

The bassist then recalled specific memories from different cities, including visiting bass shops in Australia, getting tattoos in Ireland and visiting a watch factory in Switzerland.

“You no longer fall into new languages, cultures, cuisines and accentuated pleasantries,” he wrote. “No more snow in Tokyo, watch factories in Switzerland, museums in Sweden, bass shops in Australia, steaks in Rio, tattoos in Ireland, runs in Germany, flowers in Amsterdam.”

He wrote that walking into the “ringing stadium” every night made him feel like “a gladiator,” and that he enjoyed “yelling lyrics with a total stranger who is now your best friend.”

“This is the best I can do right now. It is a finished work. We’ve seen it evolve from What If, to What Will It Be Like, to Here We Are, to Almost Done, to Done,” he wrote. “The record books are closed with fresh ink on many pages. I emerged changed. As a player, performer, person, partner. Backstage after the final curtain, I lowered myself to my knees for a moment before lying on the floor and quietly reminiscing with (dancer Tori Evans). Spend. We have lived a lifetime. If you think it felt like graduating, it does.”

Heller wrote that he feels “so much love and gratitude” to be part of the Swiftie community, and shared a special message for the star of the show himself.

“You command such respect and admiration from anyone fortunate enough to add their efforts to yours,” he wrote to Swift. “Your mix of focus, heart, endurance and joy brings out the best in everyone around you. Thank you for entrusting me with my part of your vision. It was the ride of a lifetime. I love you.”

He ended his message with the words “Long Live,” a nod to Swift’s favorite song of the same name, which appears on her 2010 album. Speak now.

One of the many commenters on Heller’s post was Kam Saundersan Eras Tour dancer whose brother Khalen famously played for the Kansas City Chiefs with Swift’s friend Travis Kelce.

“You absolute GEM of a human being! I’ll miss you making that guitar sing when I leave YNTCD! Saunders wrote. “I had the time of my life here with you! Your humor. Your cleverness. Your kindness to my mother!!!! Thank you for EVERYTHING.”
