A high-impact cycling accident at the NSE in Kulai leaves a Singaporean woman dead and a man injured

JOHOR BAHRU, Dec 11 — A Singaporean woman was killed and a Singaporean man injured after the high-powered motorcycle they were riding skidded and crashed into a steel road divider at kilometer 49.5 south of the North-South Expressway (NSE) yesterday.

Kulai District Police Chief ACP Tan Seng Lee said the Kulai Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department was informed of the accident at 9.15am.

He said the powerful Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10 was ridden by the 23-year-old man, while the 21-year-old woman sat on the back.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the accident occurred when the motorcyclist lost control of his machine, skidded and hit the road divider.

“The pillion rider suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the rider injured his legs,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He added that the body was sent to Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim Hospital in Kulai, while the motorcyclist was treated at the same hospital, with the case being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 .—Bernama
