Man arrested after father found dead during welfare check in Starke County

STARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) – A man has been arrested after police say his father was found dead during a welfare check in Starke County last week.

According to our reporting partners at WKVILast Friday, December 6, deputies were called to a home in the 2600 block of Donna Street in North Judson to conduct a welfare check on a man who had not been heard from since last Tuesday, December 3.

When they arrived on scene, they noticed a heavy smell of gas coming from the home. After it was deemed safe to enter the home, police said officers found a deceased man, identified as Landon Minix.

Landon’s son, Timothy Minix, was identified by police as a person of interest and was arrested the next day at a home in the 4500 block of Bowen Street in Leiters Ford in Fulton County.

WKVI says Timothy Minix is ​​charged with murder, felony murder, burglary and theft.
