Man ends up in jail after stabbing ‘drunk’ opponent

A 33-year-old man was arrested at the Mabolo Police Station at 11:20 p.m. after he allegedly stabbed his opponent with a broken bottle during a fistfight outside a fast food joint in F. Cabahug Street, Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City. on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

The suspect was identified as Ronald Paul Sarcol, a resident of Sitio Panagdait of the said barangay.

The victim, identified as Rally Verona, 33, of Sitio Zapatera, Barangay Luz, was reportedly drunk during the fight.

Investigations at Mabolo Police Station revealed that Sarcol and Verona were involved in a heated altercation which turned violent.

After falling during the scuffle, Verona is said to have grabbed a helmet to attack Sarcol.

However, Sarcol managed to pick up a broken bottle and stabbed Verona in the left arm, seriously wounding him.

Sarcol’s live-in partner, who requested anonymity, stated that she had gone to the area after 10 p.m. to buy food.

When Verona returned to her parked motorcycle, Verona allegedly confronted her and claimed the motorcycle was his.

The woman refused to hand over the motorcycle, causing Verona to kick it.

Although Verona’s friends tried to calm him down and told him the motorcycle was not his, he continued to behave aggressively.

That’s when the woman contacted Sarcol to ask for help.

Later, Sarcol showed up and allegedly challenged Verona to a fight.
