Two men charged in a series of truck thefts

ATHENS, Ala. (WAF) – Limestone County authorities have arrested two men in connection with a series of truck and trailer thefts in North Alabama.

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of Tommy Kaye Thompson and William Flint Childers through a joint investigation with the Athens Police Department.

Thompson31, of Tanner, faces five counts of theft of property in the first degree, receiving stolen property in the first degree and receiving stolen property in the second degree.

Childers, 45, of Harvest is charged with first-degree theft of property and first-degree receiving stolen property.

Investigators recovered several stolen vehicles and trailers during their investigation, according to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.

Both men were taken to the Limestone County Detention Center. Thompson’s bond was set at $37,500. Childers is being held without bond due to a previous theft arrest.

Our teamwork and commitment to solving this case have led to significant progress in the fight against auto theft in our region,” said Limestone County Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin.
