Surrey: Bid to increase capacity at Oxted Beer Festival rejected

Speaking on behalf of organisers, Darren Harfield told Tandridge District Council’s (TDC) licensing committee on December 4 that the venue’s designers were pleased the park was “more than capable” of accommodating a large capacity.

He emphasized that Events Runway had taken residents’ concerns into account.

Despite these efforts, the committee said there was “little certainty” about the potential impact of the increased capacity on surrounding residents.

Trustees had changed the venue’s permitted capacity to 6,000 in April 2024 and this limit remains in place.

Neighbors say the village of Oxted “can’t handle 24,000 people in three days” due to increased traffic, parking problems and possible bad behaviour, adding it would be difficult to police.

Events Runway has been contacted for comment.
