One dead, shot by a police officer, after two people were stabbed in Oshkosh

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) – One person is dead after being shot by an Oshkosh police officer, the Wisconsin Department of Justice confirms. Two people are being treated for stab wounds.

As we reported, police responded to a 911 call for a stabbing on the 400 block of W. 10th Ave. Tuesday evening after 11 o’clock.

The DOJ says officers found a stabbing victim outside the home. Officers entered the home and were confronted by a man with a knife.

The person refused to drop his weapon and an officer fired a shot.

While officers began life-saving efforts to save the suspect, a second stabbing victim was found inside the home.

The stabbing victims and the suspect were taken to a hospital. The stabbing suspect was pronounced dead. We don’t know how the two victims are doing.

According to the police, the accident scene is safe and there is no danger to the public.

The shooting is being investigated by the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation. The law requires outside agencies to investigate officer-involved shootings.

Police wore body cameras, the DOJ noted.

All officers involved have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard policy, while the DCI conducts its investigation.

The Wisconsin State Patrol and the State Crime Lab are also assisting.

Officer Kate Mann says officers and investigators will be in the area for most of the early morning, so you should use alternate routes to avoid the area.
