Collectors, SPs should be more responsible: Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan

Amaravati: Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan questioned the district collectors as to why they had remained silent even when crimes and crimes took place in their areas during the previous government.

While addressing the collectors of 26 districts and heads of 40 departments in Amaravati, he said it was not fair on the part of the collectors to remain silent spectators when there were various tax irregularities and anomalies when they were so trained and qualified .

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was also present at the meeting.

“As outsiders, we always wondered how you could remain indifferent even when illegalities were happening in your jurisdiction,” he recalled.

The previous government had shaken the basic rules of democracy, but we must protect them, he told the gatherings.

The people of the state have high expectations from the coalition government and this was evident from their mandate. The government can make policy, but officials must implement it, he said.

He sought cooperation from the collectors and said that they, and the SPs, should act as responsible officials. A lax attitude will not be tolerated, he said.

He also warned of strict action against those who fail to check illegal activities.

He praised the Chief Minister for convincing several multinationals and renowned companies to set up shop in the state. “This will help generate much-needed employment opportunities for the youth,” he said.
