Mothers are calling for the arrest of the illegal owner of a daycare center following allegations of child rape by the operator

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – After a daycare operator accused of sexually abusing children was arrested, a group of mothers are now calling for the arrest of the owner who ran the daycare without a license.

On December 5, police arrested 55-year-old Imran Malik. According to police, Malik is accused of raping at least two girls at the daycare over a four-year period.

After a daycare operator was arrested accused of child sex abuse, a group of mothers are now calling for the owner’s arrest.

Records from the Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) showed that Molly Sinclair, Malik’s wife, had been notified of the closure 10 times in nearly a decade. DHS records show she was operating illegally by monitoring 22 children outside her home at a time. Anyone who provides care to five or more unrelated children must be licensed by the state of Tennessee DHS website.

A petition filed by DHS stated that Sinclair operated an unlicensed daycare center out of her home on Ash Grove Drive as early as 2015.

“She said she was going to get a permit,” one of the mothers told WSMV4.

Three mothers, who wished to remain anonymous, spoke to WSMV about why they are calling for Sinclair’s arrest.

“We have been duped,” says one of the mothers. “Each of us thought she cared about us and our children.”

One of the mothers said Sinclair had lied about Malik’s arrest.

“On December 5, Miss Molly had called and said Mr. Ron was in the hospital, and I said, ‘Oh, are you still available for me to take my child?’ and she said, “Oh yes, honey,” said one of the mothers.

That’s the day Metro Nashville Police Department officers arrested Malik on 26 charges ranging from child rape to child molestation.

When one of the mothers heard about the arrest, her jaw dropped.

“My child was always attached to Mr. Ron and loved Mr. Ron. The first thing that went through my mind was, ‘Did he touch my child?’” the mother said.

A court document obtained by WSMV4 shows that Sinclair signed a plea deal on Nov. 5 in which she agreed to stop watching children in her home or a home with her name on the lease.

“The last time she looked at my child was December 4,” one mother said.

Instead of closing the daycare, Sinclair began directing children to Malik’s sister’s home next door, DHS records show.

Both the Tennessee Department of Human Services and Sinclair’s attorney were asked to clarify whether Sinclair was in violation of her plea agreement, but neither side responded with answers.

Now parents, including a woman who said her daughter was sexually, emotionally and physically abused by Malik for more than four years, want Sinclair charged.

“I hope and pray that we all hear of her arrest soon so we can be thankful that both monsters are off the streets,” the mother said.
