UFC: Welshman Jack Shore announces retirement from MMA

Shore last fought Youssef Zalal in November, suffering a second-round defeat.

“When I was in my 20s, fighting and training were my life and sole focus, but the last few weeks/months have shown that this is no longer the case,” he added.

“And I always promised myself that when my mentality was tested, I would retire instead of the sport making me retire. Injuries have caught up with me after a lifetime in the sport.

“I leave with my mental (health) under control, in good health, financially stable and fully ready to move on to the future.”

In his lengthy post, Shore thanked the UFC, his family, friends, coaches and gym.

“What a trip,” he added. “For once I can finally say that I am proud of what I have achieved and have always done my best.

“Hopefully, when people think of Welsh MMA, they will always think of Tank Shore. Lots of love to you all. Tank away.”
