Gono Odhikar Parishad has demanded cancellation of the allocation of the economic zones to India and called for the establishment of a military encampment in Feni to protect Bangladesh’s sovereignty.

A mass protest was held today in front of the National Press Club, with the participation of leaders from various levels of the organization.

The protest was organized to oppose the allotment of an economic zone to India.

Colonel (retd) Mia Mashiuzzaman, chairperson of Gono Odhikar Parishad, accused India of betraying Bangladesh by harboring former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He asserted that India continues to support Hasina’s actions, which he described as “unacceptable to the people of Bangladesh”.

Faruk Hasan, member secretary of the Gono Odhikar Parishad, criticized Hasina for “surrendering Bangladesh’s independence” to India, referring to the allocation of economic zones as a violation of the country’s sovereignty.

Tarek Rahman, joint secretary of the members, also spoke at the event and emphasized the importance of establishing a cantonment in Feni to protect Bangladesh’s independence.

The protest was led by party office coordinator Arif Billah and attended by several leaders including engineer S Fahim, retired Major Abdur Rob and others.
