UNC is offering Bill Belichick a head coaching position, the report said

CHAPEL HILL, NC (Gray News) – Bill Belichick has reportedly been offered the head coaching job at the University of North Carolina, according to a local report from WRAL.

The outlet said multiple sources confirmed that Belichick, a six-time Super Bowl champion, was offered the position.

The offer comes a few days after he had “some good conversations” with North Carolina Chancellor Lee Roberts about the job, the newspaper said. Associated press.

Belichick has never coached at the college level, but he said his approach would be no different than how he handles the NFL.

“If I was going to a college program, the college program would be a pipeline to the NFL for the players that had the opportunity to play in the NFL,” Belichick said. “It would be a professional program: training, nutrition, schedule, coaching, techniques that would transfer over to the NFL… It would be a college-level NFL program.”

As for his potential salary at UNC, analysts say Belichick could ask for up to $12 million per year.
