Mumbai: In a tragic incident on Wednesday, a 46-year-old woman lost her life when a part of the floor of her house collapsed in Ram Nagar, Malad West. Her husband and son suffered minor injuries and were admitted to a private hospital for treatment, public sources said.

The incident took place around 11 am on Wednesday when a one-storey plus one-storey building collapsed at Sonabai Chawl in Ram Nagar, Malad West. The deceased has been identified as Pooja Mandalkar, who lived with her husband, Prashant Mandalkar, and their son.

According to municipal officials, the structure was load-bearing and twenty years old. It is possible that the iron beams were worn out over time. When a part of the house started collapsing, Pooja came to the balcony to see. at which point the entire structure collapsed.”

She, her husband and son were immediately taken to hospital. However, Pooja was declared dead on arrival by the doctors on duty while the other two, who were injured, are being treated, the official said.
